Raudenbush Engineering Inc.’s Senior Survey & GIS Technician, Doug Allwein, SIT had an article published in the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors Summer 2016 newsletter. He wrote the piece to provide some perspective in regards to the surveying profession. Doug stated, “The profession has been struggling to get young people interested in the surveying field and I wanted to convey that while surveying can be a rough job at times, it can always be worse.  However, when things are at their worst, that’s when surveyors really pull together to finish the job.  Through that, they establish a bond that is very hard to replicate, and their shared experiences will stay with them for the rest of their lives.” The article is titled Perspective of an Army Surveyor. Doug recounts his time as a surveyor in the United States Army and how he is applying the knowledge & experience he acquired from his 5 years of service (and 2 overseas tours) to his career now as a civilian surveyor.
