Wampum Run Bridge Wins ACEC Diamond Award

The new Wampum Run Bridge in PennDOT District 11-0 SR288 won an ACEC/PA Diamond Award in Category C - Structural Systems.  Diamond Awards are given to projects that have original or innovative application of new or existing techniques, are sustainable, complex, and exceed the client’s needs. The new Wampum Run Bridge utilized accelerated bridge construction techniques, including the use of ultra-high performance concrete to seal the deck and approach slab joints without post-tensioning. The bridge was entirely precast and enabled contractor Joseph B. Fay to replace the existing bridge in seven days, making it the fastest constructed bridge of its type in Pennsylvania.  Raudenbush was a geotechnical subconsultant to Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. and completed the final structure foundation report for this project.
